Date-Nut Oat Bread -
Adds tasty fiber to your diet



Date-Nut Oat Bread is an easy and tasty way to add fiber to your diet. We keep hearing about how important it is to have fiber in our diet, but sometimes high fiber foods don't taste very good. Your family won't know you are "sneaking" fiber into your diet with this quick bread because it tastes so good! And by using the rolled oats mix, it is easy for you.

Ingredients:
8 ounces pitted dates
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
3 cups rolled oat mix
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • If using whole dates, cut in half. Put dates in a bowl and cover with boiling water and mix well. Stir in sugar and let stand until lukewarm.
  • Add egg, rolled oat mix, and nuts. Mix well
  • Put in a greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan and bake in preheated 350F oven for 1 hour or until done.
  • Turn out of pan and cool before slicing.
