Homemade biscuits hot from the oven add to the enjoyment of any meal. You can buy them ready for the oven in a tube - or for just a little more time you can make your own. By using
a homemade mix,
you can make them in just minutes. You will have them ready before the oven is pre-heated!
1/2 cup water (about)
- Pre-heat oven to 450 F.
- Add water to the homemade mix all at once. Blend lightly with a fork to form a soft dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured board. Knead the dough 20 times.
- Roll or pat the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
- Cut with a round cookie cutter and place on a cookie sheet. Bake at 450F for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 10 large or 15 medium biscuits.Variation:
By adding a little more water you can skip the rolling, patting, and cutting out. Add enough water so that the dough will drop off a spoon like a blob. You may want to use your finger or another spoon to push the dough onto the baking sheet. You don't want the dough so thin that it drips. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes on a greased cookie sheet at 450F.Have the butter and honey or jam ready, and watch your biscuits disappear!
